What is the Tally integration module?

The Tally integration module for OpenMES connects your manufacturing execution system with Tally Prime (and Tally ERP 9) – India’s most ubiquitous business management software, used by millions of businesses for accounting, inventory, and statutory compliance. The module bridges Tally’s stock and manufacturing journal capabilities with OpenMES’s real-time production tracking, bringing shop floor data directly into Tally’s books.

This is a paid module – pricing depends on the number of Tally companies, godowns, and customization scope. Contact us for a quote.

Why integrate OpenMES with Tally?

Tally Prime is the backbone of business accounting and inventory management for Indian manufacturers. It handles stock items, godowns (warehouses), manufacturing journals, and GST compliance. But Tally was not designed for real-time shop floor tracking – there is no machine connectivity, no OEE measurement, and no inline quality capture. Production data enters Tally through manual voucher entry, often at end-of-day or end-of-week.

OpenMES captures production events as they happen – every cycle, every batch, every quality check – and translates them into Tally manufacturing journal vouchers automatically. Raw material consumption and finished goods receipts are posted to the correct godowns with batch numbers and quantities, keeping Tally’s stock reports accurate without manual data entry.

How the integration works

The module communicates with Tally via Tally’s XML request/response interface (the standard integration mechanism supported by both Tally Prime and ERP 9). TDL (Tally Definition Language) extensions can be deployed for custom data access. The connector supports Tally running in server mode on the local network.

Key data flows

  • Manufacturing Journals – Production completion events in OpenMES generate manufacturing journal vouchers in Tally, crediting raw materials and debiting finished goods with correct quantities, rates, and godown assignments.
  • Stock Items – Item masters, stock groups, units of measure, and BOMs (manufacturing recipes) from Tally are synchronized into OpenMES.
  • Godowns – Godown structure from Tally is mapped to OpenMES warehouse locations. Stock movements respect godown assignments.
  • Batches – Batch numbers assigned during production are recorded in Tally’s batch-wise stock tracking for traceability and FIFO/LIFO valuation.
  • Production Tracking – Production order status, actual vs. planned quantities, and material variance data are available for reporting.

Supported versions

The module supports Tally Prime 4.0+ and Tally ERP 9 (release 6.6.3+). Tally must be running in Tally.NET Server mode or as a local server with XML request access enabled. TallyPrime Cloud (subscription) is supported.
