What is the Odoo integration module?

The Odoo integration module for OpenMES connects your manufacturing execution system with Odoo – one of the most widely adopted open-source ERP platforms in the world, used by over 12 million users. The module creates a bidirectional data bridge between your shop floor and Odoo’s business modules (Manufacturing, Inventory, Quality, Purchase), so production data, stock levels, and quality results stay synchronized without manual re-entry.

This is a paid module – pricing depends on the number of Odoo modules integrated, warehouse count, and customization scope. Contact us for a quote.

Why integrate OpenMES with Odoo?

Odoo covers sales, purchasing, inventory, accounting, and manufacturing planning. But its native manufacturing module is designed for planning and costing – not for real-time shop floor execution. Operators on the floor need cycle tracking, machine connectivity, SPC charts, and instant WIP visibility that a browser-based ERP cannot deliver at machine speed.

OpenMES fills that gap. It runs at the edge – directly connected to PLCs, sensors, and operator terminals – capturing every cycle, every defect, every downtime event in real time. The Odoo integration module then pushes finished production data, consumption reports, and quality results back into Odoo, so planners, purchasers, and accountants work with live numbers instead of yesterday’s manual entries.

How the integration works

The connector communicates with Odoo via its XML-RPC and JSON-RPC API (Odoo 14+). It supports both Odoo Community and Enterprise editions. Data synchronization can be configured as real-time (event-driven) or scheduled (batch intervals).

Key data flows

  • Manufacturing Orders – Odoo creates an MO → OpenMES receives it and tracks execution (cycles, scrap, downtime). When the MO is complete, OpenMES reports quantities produced, consumed materials, and actual labor back to Odoo.
  • Bills of Materials – BOM changes in Odoo propagate to OpenMES so operators always work with the current revision. OpenMES can flag BOM discrepancies detected during production.
  • Inventory – Raw material consumption and finished goods production in OpenMES trigger stock moves in Odoo. No manual stock adjustments needed.
  • Quality – Inspection results, SPC measurements, and defect classifications recorded in OpenMES are written to Odoo’s Quality module, creating full traceability from incoming inspection through final product release.
  • Lot and Serial Tracking – Lot numbers and serial numbers assigned on the shop floor are synchronized bidirectionally, maintaining genealogy across both systems.

Supported Odoo versions

The module supports Odoo 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 (Community and Enterprise). Earlier versions may work but are not officially tested. Odoo.sh (cloud) and self-hosted deployments are both supported.
